Chad & Myself

I met Chad about 4 years ago. He was very out of it, very introverted, he really didn’t leave his place of residence when he had one, he was always in and out of the hospitals and always causing harm to himself. I tried talking to him. But whatever I said did not make it through all the stuff going on in his head. Until about 2 years ago I got a call that he had shot himself (come to find out the person he was staying with stopped him right before he did it). But, he was in the hospital for a long time about 6 to 7 months. Then a couple months after he got out of the hospital he had a spark in his step and a new passion for life. But I thought to myself this is not going to last. Then about 5 more months went by and he was acting like he had never had any problems with Mental Illness. Now, I talk to him today and I asked him what he did. He told me I was blown away that someone as bad off as Chad was turned his life around and is finally on the right track. He is a huge inspiration to me and a great mentor to me as well. – Brenton Jones
